Water Metal Testing

Water Metal Testing

The world is facing many environmental problems, and heavy metal pollution is one of the more serious problems. Various heavy metal ions in water, due to their high toxicity and difficult degradation, will enter animals, plants and human bodies through the ecological chain. Even at very low concentrations, they can cause damage to human organs such as the brain and lungs, thus becoming a potential threat for public safety. Therefore, it is particularly important to develop rapid and accurate detection methods for the detection of heavy metal ions.

BOC Sciences is a leading water services company. Our specialized laboratory analysis services provide metal and heavy metal detection and on-site sampling services for all types of water bodies. Whatever your reason for testing water for metals, we have the expertise to help.

Detection Technologies

Electrochemical Analysis

Electrochemical analysis is a method that has developed rapidly in recent years, and it is also the technology we are most proud of. When it is necessary to detect multiple heavy metal ions in complex water quality, we prefer this technology. In addition to classical polarography, we also use oscillometric polarography, square wave stripping voltammetry (SWSV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), etc.

Spectroscopy

Spectroscopy is a relatively traditional analytical method. We use spectrometry to test most metal ions at ppt (ng/L) level, which has the advantage of high sensitivity and accuracy.

Chemical Precipitation

We use this method to measure water with high heavy metal content. By adding a certain chemical substance to the water, the chemical substance can chemically react with the heavy metal ions in the water to form a precipitate that is insoluble in water and precipitate in the water. According to the quality of the added chemical substance, the heavy metal ions in the water are calculated amount. During the whole measurement process, we will strictly control the acid-base environment of the water.

Biochemical Method

Our commonly used biochemical methods include enzyme inhibition method, nucleic acid aptamer detection method and immunoassay technology, etc. If you need to detect Cu2+ in environmental water, we prefer to use the enzyme inhibition method.

Because immunoassay technology can be fast and portable, when it comes to on-site detection, we generally choose this technology.
